I believe every student deserves access to a high-quality, inclusive, and future-ready education. Our schools are the heart of our community, and I’m committed to ensuring they are well-supported, transparent, and responsive to the needs of students, families, and educators.
Let’s work together to support student success—now and for the future.
Meet Jasmine
I am running for the Meridian School Board, District 3 to serve our families and our kids.
I’m a mother, a neighbor, and a community member who knows our schools are the heart of our future. As a lifelong advocate for equity, I’m running for the Meridian School Board to bring a thoughtful, transparent, and community-centered voice to our district leadership. My children have attended the Meridian Parent Partnership Program, Irene Reither Elementary, and Meridian Middle School. I will continue conversations with our staff and teachers to learn how our School Board can better serve our students.
I understand the importance of listening first. I’m committed to hearing from parents, teachers, students, and residents across our community to make informed decisions that reflect our shared values.
As a mother of two proud Trojans, I know our schools are the heart of our future. I am running to listen, to lead with integrity, and to advocate for the success of every student. I will fight to ensure YOU are heard – our school board should be responsive to the concerns of parents, students, teachers, and staff alike.
Eliminating administrative barriers for after-school enrichment programs
My experience partnering with Common Threads to bring cooking club to Irene Reither was a lengthy process. We need to make it easier for admin and staff to allow community organizations such as these to our schools so we can provide more after-school enrichment programs.
Building financial literacy and individualized education
Our students must be coached on how to make smart decisions about spending so they can build a solid financial foundation. Teaching our students the importance of job skills and satisfaction, how to meet the cost of living, budgeting, wise investing, and borrowing will empower their future financial goals.
Enhancing our theater and performing arts programs
Meridian was once home to a top-tier performing arts program where performers traveled from all over the state come together, right here! We can bring back this legacy with the right leadership and partnerships.
Supporting trades programs and apprenticeships
Access to technical education skills is a top-priority. I support our proposed skills center which will provide programs in welding, auto tech, culinary arts, nursing, and more to our Whatcom County juniors and seniors.
Expanding early learning for children and early childhood education for students
I stand behind our proposed Whatcom Early Learning Center to expand our child care opportunities and to provide hands-on skills for those exploring childhood education. Finding child care for our little ones is solid struggle. Like many others, I couldn't afford child care to go back to work after having my babies. The Meridian Parent Partnership Program is a great resource for K-8 grade families bridging the workforce gap, but our options from birth to age 5 are scarce. I support the District's partnership with the Northwest Career and Technical Academy to help provide workforce development and early childhood preparatory education. High-quality childcare and increased access to early learning with behavioral and mental health support are desperately needed.
I am committed to eliminating administrative barriers for extra-curricular programs and supporting our federally funded Whatcom County Skills Center which will connect students with the hands-on experience they need for critical jobs in our community. Our students must build financial literacy and life skills to succeed.
I will protect outdoor education and hands-on learning through trades programs and apprenticeships. We can provide our kids with a world-class education that will set them up for success, without tax increase, but it requires real leadership on the school board and that starts with a strong, transparent budget. Let's build on our strengths, protect our vulnerable kids, and provide individualized education to ensure student success.
I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
Meridian is a place where every child matters.
